In February 2015, the Mavericks were purchased by Lamar Hunt, Jr., oldest son of the late Chiefs owner. Hunt is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, and sports promoter who purchased the team under his company Loretto.

James Arkell is a partner in the ownership of the Mavericks. Arkell is Chief Operating Officer of Hunt’s Loretto Holding Company.
