St. Louis Blues v. San Jose Sharks (9/20/92) Kemper Arena

The Sharks beat the Blues, 3-2. Wade Flaherty was the goaltender credited with the win in front of a crowd of 7,218.

St. Louis Blues v. Nashville Predators (9/26/98) Kemper

Chris Pronger, Grant Fuhr, and Tony Twist were a few of the Blues who played. Nashville had lesser talents like Dominic Roussel, Jeff Nelson, and Scott Walker. The game was far from a sell out at 9,346. It didn’t even match the top attendance figures for the Blades. The Preds were the home team, but St. Louis had the crowd rooting them to a 6-5 win.

Blues v. Chicago Blackhawks (9/27/03) Kemper

The Blues beat the Blackhawks 3-1. A crowd of 17,285 was on hand to see the Blues win another game at Kemper.

Blues v. Predators II (9/24/05) Kemper

932a The Blues beat the Preds 2-1. Nashville’s lone goal came from Jordan Tootoo. The Blues had goals from Trent Whitfield and Lee Stempniak on powerplays. Nashville goalies Brian Finley and Chris Mason faced 21 shots. Former Blade Patrick Lalime faced 29. The announced attendance was 12,686.

Blues v. Los Angeles Kings (9/22/08) Sprint Center

The Kings brought half the team. The other half was playing in another exhibition in Phoenix. This was the first hockey game held at Sprint Center. The Kings won 2-1 in front of an announced crowd of 11,603. droppuckThanks Stephanie

New York Islanders v. Kings (9/22/09) Sprint

The Kings beat the Islanders 4-2 in front of 9,792. There was speculation about another NHL team testing the waters. Islanders owner Charles Wang was frustrated by the lack of progress for a project to update or replace Nassau Coliseum.

Penguins v. Kings (9/27/11) Sprint

The announced crowd was 17,779. There are only 17,544 seats for hockey, 235 Standing Room Only tickets were sold. The Pens came out on top with a 3-2 shootout win. penskings

Colorado Avalanche v. New York Rangers (10/6/12) Sprint

The Avs and Rangers were to play in KC until the league had a lockout because they hadn’t come to terms with the players’ association on a Collective Bargaining Agreement. So, the hopes of many fans that were anxious to see different teams were dashed.

Dallas Stars v. Blues (9/27/14) Sprint

Dallas beat St. Louis 4-2. This game had a media blitz to promote. Blues d-man Ian Cole and mascot Louie came to KC for a clinic, they hit TV and radio, and did an autograph session at Oak Park Mall. Sprint Center held a free open skate for anyone who’d purchased a game ticket. This was probably the most publicized of preseason games, but I haven’t been able to find attendance figures.

Washington Capitals v. Blues (10/05/16) Sprint

stwash The Caps and Blues faced off in front of 12,500. Caps backup goalie Philip Grubauer came out with a 4-2 win over the Blues Jake Allen.

Minnesota Wild v. Blues (9/28/17) Sprint

Minnesota came out on top with 4.3 seconds left. Charlie Coyle scored for the Wild, giving them a 3-2 win. Blues had goals from Vladimir Tarasenko and Oskar Sundqvist. Wild had goals from Coyle, Kyle Quincey, and Luke Kunin.

Blackhawks v. Blues (10/2/21) Cable Dahmer Arena

St. Louis and Chicago played in front of a sell out crowd of 5,800 at the much smaller Cable Dahmer. The Blackhawks won the game, 5-1 with goals from Henrik Borgstrom, Colton Dach, MacKenzie Entwistle, Mike Hardman, and Dominik Kubalik. Torey Krug had the Blues lone goal. Joel Hofer and Ville Husso both saw time in net for the Blues, while Kevin Lankinen tended Chicago’s goal.

Stars v. Blues (10/1/22) Cable Dahmer

St. Louis and Dallas played in front of a sell out crowd of 5,807. The Stars won 5-2 with goals from Jacob Peterson, Mason Marchment, Ryan Shea, Wyatt Johnston, and Fredrik Olofsson. Jake Oettinger was in goal for the Stars. Pavel Buchnevich and Logan Brown had the goals for the Blues, while Joel Hofer tended goal for the Blues.

Stars v. Blues (9/30/23) Cable Dahmer

The Dallas Stars beat the St. Louis Blues, 4-3 in overtime. St. Louis had two goals from Brayden Schenn. One from Bolduc. Dallas had goals from Blumel, Seminoff and McDonald with the OT winner coming from Jason Robertson. The goalies for St. Louis were Ellis and Binnington splitting time, and Dallas’s Poirer and Murray sharing their net.
