The Pla-Mor Ice Palace was part of the largest indoor amusement center in the country during the 1920s. Not only was the ice arena home for KC’s pro hockey, but the complex also had a bowling alley, billiards, ballroom, and swimming pool. The Pla-Mor Ballroom hosted shows by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Frank Sinatra. For the hockey arena portion of the facility, it reportedly had a 6,300 seat capacity. The facility was closed in 1966. It reopened for a few years in the early 1970s as a concert hall for rock shows.
