The T-Mobile Center, formerly known as Sprint Center, is an 18,500 seat facility funded by a hotel room and car rental fee voted on by KC voters in 2004. The project cost $276 million. The Sprint Center opened with a sold out Elton John concert followed up by many more concert events (9 sold out Garth Brooks concerts) and sporting events (including the CBE Classic, Big 12 championship, Arena Football, and NBA and NHL exhibitions).

October 2017 marked the tenth anniversary of downtown’s crown jewel. In the last sixteen years, hundreds of concerts have been held at the arena, as well as sporting events including a number of NHL exhibition games and a college hockey tournament.
